The Kindest Cut.

The Kindest Cut theory was created by Carol Vernallis came pup with the idea of the kindest cut to show what elements a good music has / what makes it a successful music video. Show specifically looked at camera shots and editing techniques ( jump cuts and not always continuity editing like you are filming a TV series or a film.)
If I apply the techniques to my music video it will make it look very professional since artist such as One Dierction , Taylor Swift and Rihanna use these techniques in their music videos.
I did a textual analysis of Taylors Swifts music video to show that big artist use the techniques and styles which are mentioned in Carol Vernallis Kindest Cut theory.

Hypodermic Needle and Reception theory- textual analysis

Music video regualtion.

This powerpoint was shared by my team member Alex, in this she talks about all the ideas on music regulation and the impact it has on music firms and producers. This powerpoint also mentions the videos and songs that have got away with being very risky. For example the lyrics in Rihannas song S and M and also the burled lines music video.

Music video pitch.

Media Pitch

As Alex and I are at the planning stage for our music video, I created a pitch to put all our ideas together so we can picture what our final music video will look like. In our pitch we covered lots of different ideas including song choice, editing technique and camera shots, I felt like this was very useful because like a story board it gives Alex and I a clear idea about what we want to achieve.

Star theory

The Star Theory was created by Richard Dyer, he developed the idea of what qualities a star has and what actually makes the person a star.
He argued that the star image is manufactured and artificial and that individual stars have their own unique selling point (brand values) in order to grab and hold our attention – for example – Justin Bieber’s hair and Lady Gagas clothing.
The table below demonstrates Dyers ideas about star qualities and how they can be shown in a music video.

An example of some music artist that are considered as 'stars' is on the prezi below.
