Star theory

The Star Theory was created by Richard Dyer, he developed the idea of what qualities a star has and what actually makes the person a star.
He argued that the star image is manufactured and artificial and that individual stars have their own unique selling point (brand values) in order to grab and hold our attention – for example – Justin Bieber’s hair and Lady Gagas clothing.
The table below demonstrates Dyers ideas about star qualities and how they can be shown in a music video.

An example of some music artist that are considered as 'stars' is on the prezi below.

Male Gaze theory.

This powerpoint is an textual analysis of an Nicki Minaj music video which has clear examples if the Male Gaze theory. I chose this music video because it has a lot of shots where Nicki ( the women) has minimal clothing on with is very revealing. Another reason why I chose a Nicki Minaj music video is because her music videos are known for being very sexy and this is what hetrosexual men would find attractive.

Music video pitch.

To help my class to get a clear idea of what they wanted to do for our music video we had to make a pitch that would be suitable to present to a LA music company which would give us a music video contact. Personally I found this task very useful because I had so many different ideas about what I wanted Alex and I's final music video to look like. This allowed me to go through all my ideas and look at which ideas would be more achievable and look professional in the final music video.
