Alex and I's preliminary task.

This is Alex and I's preliminary task, we both found being able to practice creating a music video very useful since we both didn't have much experience with editing and filming. From looking at my music video I can clearly see what I need to improve, for example the lip syncing needs to be better because it is out of time with the music. Overall I was happy with the end result especially since I can watch it to over again to find out what I need to change or improve for my final music video.

Music video directors

Image result for anthony mandlerAnthony Mandler is an American music video/film/ TV commercial director. His most successful music videos that he directed are Jay Z/Justin Timberlake Holy Grail,  Rihanna Diamonds and Drake Find Your Love. Anthony's music videos are story based and have a cinematic theme, this can been seen in all three of the music videos listed above, since they all have a extended introduction which has minimal music and lots of establishing shots to help introduce the videos location, this technique is very clear in Drakes music video because the introduction even has some Drake and another man having a conversation about the situation that they are in, which most people would expect to be in a film rather than a music video. If my group and I used this technique in our music video it would help to make it look professional. In Anthony's music videos he includes a lot of relationships between the lyrics and the visuals, this can be seen in Rihanna's video Diamonds when every time she says sky, the camera is either at a low angle so the sky is taking up over half of the shot or she is pointing/looking up towards the sky. Alex and I used this technique in our preliminary task, this is because it is a popular technique used in many pop videos.

Media museum.

During the past week my class and I have been creating a media museum, everyone in our class had different roles such as researching, taking photos, creating labels and making a short film which will inform everyone about the museum. I found this task very useful because it gave my class the opportunity to gain experience using  programs such as photoshop, which we will use for digipack in our final task. Also researching the old technology made me realise how simple todays technology is, if we used the older technology to create our final music video it would take my class far much longer to get the same quality film, since the older technology is very complicated compared to todays where you can just press one button to add an effect.

Band website for our music video.

For Alex and I's preliminary task we had to create a band website which would fit with the theme of our music video. Since our music video is based on a pop song we used the stereotypical pop theme to design our website, such as bright colours which clash and big bold writing. Alex and I also included separate pages for the bands bio, music , tickets and merch, we included this because from looking at other music artist websites Alex and I noticed they all included something similar.
The link for our band website is below.

Possible filming locations.

In my new group we decided to walk ground the school grounds for inspiration for possible locations. Alex and I did not have a clear idea of what type of location we wanted, so this walk helped us make our decision quicker. Since Alex and I's song choice has very clear lyrics, we thought it would be best to have a simple background and to use a lot of visuals, which would make a link to our music video. The pictures attached are what Alex and I took on our walk.
